Habitat for Butterflies, Bees, and Hummingbirds
The Boynton Beach Garden Club proudly maintains two public gardens that educate, inspire, and provide vital habitat for butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. These gardens are living classrooms where visitors of all ages can discover Florida-friendly plants, learn about native wildlife, and experience the beauty of nature up close.
Our Butterfly Garden at the Schoolhouse Children's Museum is a Certified Butterfly Garden, recognized by the North American Butterfly Association. Together with the Boynton Hills Neighborhood Garden, these green spaces reflect our club's commitment to conservation, education, and community service.
Every flower planted, weed pulled, and butterfly welcomed is made possible by dedicated volunteers who share a love of gardening and giving back.

Butterfly Garden

A Certified Butterfly Garden recognized by the North American Butterfly Association — planted to provide nectar for adult butterflies and host plants for their caterpillars. A living classroom for visitors of all ages.

A community green space maintained by dedicated club volunteers, and a gathering point for the neighborhood around it. Visitors are always welcome to stop by and explore.

BBGC works to expand the knowledge of gardening and actively participates in community beautification, while helping others understand the value the natural world holds for our wellbeing. We study, support, and practice wise conservation — fighting pollution and helping protect South Florida's sensitive ecology.
Blue Star Memorial Markers
1523 North Federal Highway, Boynton Beach& South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth
The club donated Boynton Beach's Blue Star Memorial Marker in 1968 to honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. We aid with landscaping and greenery at both markers, and our members take part in national observances, including an annual Veterans Day ceremony.
Rustic Retreat Retirement Home
1120 N. Federal Highway, Boynton BeachWe visit throughout the year, providing greenery for the courtyard and collecting magazines, clothing, and books for the residents — many of them American veterans. And, as they'll tell you, they love our doughnuts.
Conservation, Scholarships & Community
Our civic work reaches well beyond our own gardens. Among the programs and causes the club supports:
- SEEK — Save the Earth's Environment through Knowledge. We fund scholarships for high-school students to attend the environmental conference sponsored by the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs.
- WEKIVA Youth Camp (Apopka, FL). A yearly scholarship for students attending the FFGC environmental camp.
- Mounts Botanical Garden (West Palm Beach). We support this treasured botanical garden through the club's Steward Membership.
- Wreaths Across America. An annual donation to this nationally recognized program.
- Plant-A-Tree Program. Members donate at every general meeting — nickels, dimes, and quarters add up to support the National Garden Club's reforestation of our national parks and lands.
- FFGC Scholarships. An annual donation to the statewide fund that helps students pursuing environmental studies.
- Spring Fashion Show at Indian Spring Country Club. Our major fundraiser of the year — a spring classic offering food, drinks, a fashion show, raffle, and plant sale.
Join Us in the Garden
Whether you're an experienced gardener or simply enjoy working outdoors, we'd love to have you join us. Gardening alongside fellow members is one of the most rewarding ways to build friendships, learn new skills, and make a lasting difference in our community.
And gardening is good for the body, mind, and spirit. Spending time outdoors provides gentle exercise, fresh air, and the satisfaction of nurturing plants while creating beautiful spaces for our community and local wildlife.
No experience is necessary — just bring your enthusiasm, comfortable clothes and a hat, a water bottle for hydration, and your willingness to help. You'll learn about pollinator plants — including the host plants caterpillars need, not just the nectar plants adults feed on — along with Florida gardening and sustainable landscaping, all while helping our gardens thrive.

Work days run September through May. Weather permitting, we typically work in the mornings, although times may vary. Garden volunteers must be current members of the Boynton Beach Garden Club.
